This story is set in today’s world of unprecedented disunity in many nations, increasing tension among global superpowers, spreading poverty, out-of-control immigration surges, deadly hunger, intense impacts from climate warming, and a potentially dangerous acceleration in technology caused by rapid advances in artificial intelligence, or AI.

Based in Santa Barbara, California, Charlie Evers is the key protagonist. A former Navy SEAL, he leads the effort to implement advanced AI technology in cyberwarfare. The US President commissions Charlie’s defense firm with a Letter of Marque and Reprisal to actively resist countries conducting illegal activities in cyberwarfare. This commissioning, allowed by Article 1 of the US Constitution, was unanimously approved by Congress. The US would be playing with a new set of rules.

Charlie’s struggle against global foes intensifies, most often in a cyber-warfare campaign led by the Chinese Intelligence Community. Woven into the story is a re-uniting of Charlie with his high school sweetheart, Georgia Palmerii, the daughter of Hollywood royalty.
